I can’t believe how much money has become a part of my life.

Now, I know that’s a strange statement and it needs clarification, since money is a part of -everyone’s- life here in the 21st c. US — whether it’s money or lack thereof.

Growing up poor white trash meant that money, as in the lack thereof, dominated my life. Being one of the “have nots” threaded so essentially through the fabric of everything I did, that I can still smell what being poor smells like, even today as a “have.” It smells like someone else’s old clothes, old rags used to stop up gasoline tanks on old pickup trucks, dirty threadbare towels.

Birthday Countdown to 40

I have so many friends in Nigeria! They keep mailing me. They are all very rich. Nigeria must be a wealthy country. They all also have many problems getting access to their money! You would think that a country with so many rich people would have a better banking and commerce system. My newest friend is DR. CHUKWUBUEZE VICTOR.

Now, in all honesty, I cheated with that start button. Somehow, I found something called “pin to short list” that adds a program to the permanent list of programs in the short list of the start button. Follow that? And then I wiped out -everything- from the most used list beneath that. So, let’s be a little more honest here:

You may ask yourself, where does that paper lead to?

I am about half way done, I think, on a 30 page paper about WEB DuBois and voluntary segregation, co-authored with Miss Christi Moss, who has finally made an appearance in my blog! Yay, Christi! Like a good public address scholar, though, 25 of 30 pages will be devoted to history and 5 will be devoted analysis of texts! Rar! And like a good academic, I am using lots of prepositional phrases and passive sentence constructions. It takes up more space that way.

Simplemu continues to reign supreme in first position on the start button. Wordperfect has yet to dislodge either my mail program or spider solitaire. I’m tempted to open and close Wordperfect to give it the edge, but somewhere deep inside me I recognize that for what it is — CHEATING.
