Three interesting links:

1. NPR article on democrats losing ground in Louisiana. They cite LSU prof, Wayne Parent. It’s an interesting read. Apparently people in Louisiana comprise most of the 15 percent of the country who still support President Bush.

2. The FDA approved a marijuana pill, called Marinol. Ironies abound. The argument against medical marijuana is that the act of smoking it is bad for your health. But between feeding both the government’s war on drugs and the medical-pharmaceutical industrial complex, I’m not surprised that a pill form has been approved over the “street” form. Follow the dollar.

3. An article on why the next Harry Potter movie has been delayed. Apparently it’s due to Daniel Radcliffe’s penis.

It’s All About the Galleons

Harry Potter is all the rage, of course. Some people are happy about that and others aren’t. Crooked Dimwit is one of those who isn’t.

Annoyed and exhausted by the Harry Potter hype, Crooked Dimwit argues that the media overstates Harry’s pre-eminence at the box office. Because the rating system ignores inflation, HP rankings are actually exaggerated. When adjusted for inflation, Gone with the Wind ranks the highest grossing movie of all time while HP ranks well at the bottom half of the top 100 box office earners. As an aside, I just HAVE to point out that GWTW has *sixty* years of re-releases added into its total whereas HP has been released for, what, three weeks? In sixty years, we’ll see who’s the head boy, bucko.
