My BRCC Meltdown?

I shared a meal and a conversation today with a colleague who shall remain nameless. I shared with this person some of my frustrations about BRCC and she pointed out that I am nearing the end of my third year. She stated that people typically have a “BRCC Meltdown” at their third year. Actually, there were some other qualifiying statements in the discussion, but they are not relevant. I asked if she had statistical data to support this, but it turns out the evidence was only anecdotal. Still, I fear she’s correct.

Up until now, I have spent my time at BRCC intentionally avoiding the sort of bitch sessions that occur at every workplace. I have studiously remained blissfully ignorant of how things work. Into the blue again – A new semester again

The fall semester has started again. I am less enthusiastic than I have been in previous school years and I am not sure why. I did have a great first meeting with all my classes, so that has picked up my spirits.

One thing I have noticed this semester is the increased number of hispanic students in my classes, a reflection of the changing demographics of Baton Rouge. I wonder what the 2010 census will reveal about BR. One of the things I love about BRCC is its diversity. At least on sight, it is ten times more diverse than LSU. I notice many more students in wheelchairs, for instance. I suspect that this is because of two things: 1. BRCC is a much more wheel-chair accessible campus because it’s new and 2. there are many students at BRCC on the GI bill. This is just a speculation though. I [...]

Same as it ever was – Adventures Updating Voxygen

I have been neck deep in Dreamweaver and learning CSS. Well, not really learning as much as hacking the template I found. I have something of a template put together. I’m not done with it and I think Willow probably needs to take a look at it to straighten some of it out. One thing that really helped me was installing this great Foxfire plug-in called Firebug, which lets you examine the source code of a website with greater ease and detail than the generic “view page source” button. I’m rather proud of what I’ve accomplished so far, though. I’m having some trepidation about converting the style sheet to fit blogger, though.

I have decided to buy Willow her own domain so that she can use that instead of using a subdomain of Voxygen. I didn’t know I could do that, but apparently I can! I get to have [...]
