It’s really annoying when you find a website that looks interesting but turns out to be just a collection of links devoid of content that leads you to yet another content-devoid collection of links. Link pages do serve useful purposes when they are databases, like the Voice of the Shuttle page (which leads to a legion of content-rich websites on cultural studies, the arts, humanities, etc.). But usually link pages are just litter, like fast-food wrappers and empty beer bottles trashing up the information super-highway.
Well, then, why is this link page here? Because I’m just as guilty as everyone else! I too want to say, “Look over here! This is really cool! I hang out with these people in cyberspace because I’m *linked* to them.”
