Reality check on health care

See? It just proves it!

Today, in the wake of the “historic” bill signed by the “historic” president, the liberal blogosphere has been crowing over the health care bill. I find this disturbing. People are cheering because the bill was resuscitated after its near death and they applaud that the bill went through with enough votes that Democrats didn’t need to rely on parliamentary shenanigans such as reconciliation. Admittedly there are those who acknowledge that the bill has little meat and that it’s basically a symbolic victory. Nonetheless, they are giddy with their success.

Well, Imma glass-half-empty kinda girl.

Hello? The Democrats scraped by tooth and nail to get this bill passed. They made enough concessions that much of the bill was gutted. Insurance stocks soared when the bill passed, right? That can’t be a good sign.

Tea party protest signs and some other stuff

We’ve all seen the tea bag party’s stupid, misspelled protest signs these days. No surprise there. We all immediately recognize the painful hypocrisy of those misspelled signs that demand we make English America’s “offical” language. We all also recognize by now the anti-anti-war protester of a few years ago who called us all “morans,” which some thoughtful person has turned into a motivational poster. The illiteracy of the tea baggers party is just depressing — it just underscores that these people are victims taken advantage of by astroturfing corporate interests. So depressing. Now, to be fair, the left has its fair share of misspelled posters. My fave: “Will sombody please give Bush a blowjob so we can impeach him.” Misspelling aside, the sentiment is funny. Another pro-family hypocrite

Democrats cheat on their wives too (obviously), but they don’t run on pro-family, pro-marriage, anti-gay platforms. The LA Times reports that California legislator was caught on a hot mic bragging about his sexual escapades. Apparently this man is having affairs with two different women, one of whom is a lobbyist. Go figure. CBS video of Duvall with some of the video shows some of the conversation. He’s seriously a dirty old man. So Duvall resigned and this is his apology:

“I am deeply saddened that my inappropriate comments have become a major distraction for my colleagues in the Assembly, who are working hard on the very serious problems facing our state.”
