Widgets, apps, plugins, and other lovely things
I love widgets, apps, plugins, and add-ons. I don’t know why I get such a kick out of these little programs, but I do. On facebook? Not so much. But on other things, yes. I am seriously considering getting a Blackberry or iPhone or some such device just so I can get more apps. So here’s a list of my apps and things:
WordPress:
Add This Social Bookmarking Widget
Akismet (of course)
Breadcrumb NavXT (neat little breadcrumb at the bottom of the page)
Clean Options (cleans up code from deleted plugins)
Collapsible Archive Widget (accordians the month/year archive in the sidebar; this one is code-heavy and increases page-load time)
Dagon Design Sitemap Generator (I love this one; it generates the sitemap page)
Exclude Pages From Navigation (standard)
Feedburner Feedsmith (standard)
FLIR for WordPress (the thing that changes my font; also increases page-load time)
GD Pages Navigator (this controls what pages are listed on my sidebar)
Google Analyticator (standard)
Google XML Sitemaps (standard)
Last Modified (neat little code at the bottom of the page)
OAS Sticky Posts (keeps posts at the top of the list)
Recent Posts (obvious what it does)
Results Counts (shows search results counts; I really like this one)
Simple Tags (standard)
Smart Archives Reloaded (neat calendar archive on archive page)
TinyMCE Advanced (nifty for writing posts)
WordPress Database Backup (essential)
WP Cache (essential)
WP Post Columns (lets you put columns in posts; I have never used it)
Wow. That’s a lot of plugins.
Firefox:
AVG Safesearch (checks webpages for malware)
Bookmarks Scrollbar (adds a scrollbar to that obnoxious list of bookmarks)
Date Picker/Calendar (popup calendar)
Firebug (for page design)
Google Bookmarks Button Reloaded
History Tree (I haven’t really used it)
LibX Louisiana State University (TOTALLY ESSENTIAL)
Read It Later (AMAZING! The rave reviews are right!)
Scribe Fire (sometimes use it, sometimes not)
Stumble Upon (fun stuff)
Xmarx (Xmarx Firefox button)
Yslow (for pageload times)
Zotero (ALSO TOTALLY ESSENTIAL)
iGoogle:
Labpixies Calendar
Labpixies Todo
Labpixies Progress Bar (countdown untill trip to Rome!)
Box of Links
Google Movies
Google Tasks Gadget
(I add and delete gadgets on iGoogle all the time.)
I’m thinking about playing with Evernote. Anyone use that?
