This is my life?

I haven’t blogged since December, and even then it was only a single entry. I blame Facebook and The Huffington Post for this sad neglect. Prior to the election, I only randomly surfed HuffPo when I was bored. As the election gave way to Obama’s cabinet selections and his first 100 days, I became addicted to following him in the news. You would think that this addiction would lead to more blogging, but it didn’t. At the time I figured out that all my blog posts would just point to the Huffington Post (the way HuffPo basically just points to the New York Times). So when I occasionally found an interesting, off-the-beaten-path link, I would just post it to Facebook.

I also got out of the habit of blogging in the Fall because I was teaching an overload. Boy, I will never do that again. Teaching an overload for me is like hitting critical mass. It’s just -too- many students. I am not at my best. I get bitchy. And I don’t like it. My evals, surprisingly, came back ok, but I hated my classes and I hated myself. This semester was much better, but I never got around to blogging again.

So, it’s summer. I have one final to go (we get out of school god-awfully late), then almost a week off, then Maymester for three weeks, then SIX WEEKS OFF! I hope to resume blogging and today is my first attempt.

I have lots of interesting things to blog about, but I will leave that alone for today. It will motivate me to blog tomorrow, or perhaps later this evening. For now, I will post my summer and . That should be a sufficient sacrifice to satisfy the blogging gods.

Summer :

1. Clean out and de-clutter my office, damn it. Especially my desk.
2. Clean out my closets and get rid of old clothes.
3. Read Wendy Brown’s Regulating Aversion, which is about the dark side of tolerance, one of my favorite topics.
4. Do some prep-work for the basic course so I can be ahead of the curve in the fall.
5. Update my sad website. This is a hard one. It’s a huge-assed website and updating it will be a total bitch. I need to decide on updating both style and content. Just the thought is giving me a headache. But I intend to make an effort. Maybe I won’t revise the design. We’ll see.

10 Summer Movies I Want to See (in no particular order):

1. Terminator
2. Harry Potter
3. GI Joe
4. Angels and Demons
5. The Taking of Pelham 123 (mmm. Denzel and Travolta)
6. Public Enemies
7. Julie and Julia
8. Taking Woodstock
9. Inglourious Bastards
10. Ponyo

I might as well just say the ones I -don’t- want to see. This summer looks fun. Also, there are lots of cool-looking films for the fall too. Release dates are listed at Wikipedia.

Three Things I’m Grateful For:

1. Facebook, for finding old friends
2. Steve’s new car, because it means Willow has Steve’s old car and now -she- can drive -me- around.
3. Pathfinder, the Paizo revisions of D&D 3.5 It kept me sane this semester.

Welcome back, feminista! I’m thinking of relaunching a new blog myself this summer, for what sounds like a lot of the same reasons. And I second Da Juice!
