In other, less exciting news, my students’ persuasive speeches are coming up next week. I’ve been teaching speech now for 18 years and students are still giving the same old speeches on drunk driving, seat belts, and abortion. One student wants to give a speech on the fact that WWIII is near and what we should do to prepare for it. I think this student is a little depressed because the Dems swept the election. I know my husband is depressed about it. As depressed as he would be if the Rams lost a game. Which is pretty sad, IMO. But politics and sports are pretty much the same thing to him.
