I spent an hour today updating the email link on my website from lsells1@lsu.edu to laura@voxygen.net. I am migrating my various list-servs over to that address as well. I wonder how long I will keep my lsu.edu address. I still have my luna.cas.usf.edu address but I can’t log into it because I forgot the password. Anyway, as I was updating my address on my big-ass website, I started to think about what leaving the academy will mean in terms of said website. I guess I’m having yet another personality crisis in my life, and my website always reflects that. Do I leave all my class links and my pedagogy page? Or do I pull them down. I’d like to be vain enough to think that people read this stuff, but I don’t know. Lately I’ve been surfing elementary education websites to get a sense of what is out there. There are tons of great websites. I don’t know that another one would make the net a better place. So maybe I will just pull the website down, period. The end of an era. Lots to think about.
In other news, I got accepted to Teach Baton Rouge and I’m excited about that. I’ve been observing in first grade classes in the district and it’s pretty scary stuff. Very Foucaultian. I’m excited about it, though.
The other site I’ve been reading is Bitch PhD. It’s been a fun read.
Right now I’m reading Come Hell or High Water by Michael Eric Dyson. So far it’s been pretty good, though nothing profoundly earth-shattering in terms of new information.
That’s it for now.
I really hated dealing with my college email.
I read your stuff! In fact I just stopped over to steal a few ideas from your pedagogy section…
